you made this? O.O How? I'd an acrylic painter. I do mostly space art and I'm thinking about branching into spray paint for the effects it has. Do you know any tutorials for leaning this kind of thing on PS? Your work is amazing!
Thank you! I'm afraid I'm digital all the way; this one all done in Photoshop, on a PC. For the planet and moons I started with stock planet images (for the planet, probably 5 or 6 different ones), resized them to match, and applied different effects to the layers, at times erasing parts of them to just get certain effects. The lights on the planet I made using several different "tech" brushes, and some of the other lights and star effects are from brushes. The sun and the lunar orbital rings I made in Vue, a 3D environment program I'm just learning to use. There were probably 60 layers in this pic at its height
I don't know of any specific tutorial, but I've been amazed at the number of tutorials available here on DA; some artists here do nothing but provide stock images, PSD files and tutorials. Just search for something like "PS airbrush tutorial" and if you don't find an artist right away, you'll probably find a group focused on it. There are also a lot of video tutorials on YouTube, but they are more hit-or-miss.
Thank you! Especially since that's actually exactly the idea - in the chapter of the fic it's loosely related to, the main characters encounter an alien species and visit their capital city, which essentially covers the entirety of the planet. The surface isn't covered end to end with structures, but it is all developed and metropolitan.
